Construction Inspection

SR 0003, CH1

Rehabilitation of bridges carrying Chestnut Street over Lower 30th Street, I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), Schuylkill River, Schuylkill River Trail, CSX and 24th Street, Schuylkill Avenue West over I-76 from Walnut to Market Streets, Ramp A and Ramp B including roadway reconstruction, steel repairs, and other miscellaneous construction.

Construction inspection and documentation services for the 1.3-mile section of US 1 are from Old Lincoln Highway (SR 2037) to north of the I-276 (PA Turnpike) ramps in Bensalem Township. US 1 will be reconstructed and widened to three (3) lanes directionally. Additional construction includes the reconfiguration of the US 1/PA 132 (Street Road) interchange, the replacement of three structurally deficient mainline bridges, the removal of a structurally deficient mainline bridge, and the replacement of an overpass (Bristol Road over US 1).

SP Engineering provides construction inspection services for this $15-$20 million bridge rehabilitation project. The scope of work includes rehabilitation of an existing dual six-span steel plate, multi-girder bridge, the construction of a soldier pile retaining wall, concrete restoration, retrofitting of three existing DMS structures, installation of new DMS structures, replacement of a DMS structure and two cantilever sign structures and installation of ITS network elements.

SP Engineering provides construction inspection services for the $10+ million project on State Route 4044. This project includes approximately 5.900 feet of full depth pavement construction of full-width shoulders, the addition of left-turn lanes at several intersections, traffic signal modifications at one intersection, retaining walls, stormwater management facilities, curbs, driveway adjustments, drainage inlets and pipes, and signing and pavement markings.

SP Engineering provides construction inspection services for the over $125 million projects on I-95 in Philadelphia. This project includes the following (1) Reconstruction and widening of I-95 southbound to include 4 thru lanes plus a fifth auxiliary lane with full-width shoulders from Columbia Avenue to the north of Ann Street, (2) Reconstruction of southbound Girard Avenue interchange ramps, which includes demolition and replacement of numerous bridge structures, (3) Completion of the surface street tie-ins with the southbound ramp terminals and the construction of associated retaining walls and sound barrier walls and (4) Reconstruction of Aramingo Avenue between Delaware Avenue and Cumberland Street and other miscellaneous construction.

SP Engineering provided construction inspection services for the rehabilitation of an existing single-span concrete arch bridge and other miscellaneous construction on Holme Avenue over Wooden Bridge Run in Philadelphia.

SP Engineering provides construction inspection services for a $13.3 million sign system and ADA ramp project in the Borough of Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove Township, and North Coventry Township. The project involves the upgrade of traffic signal equipment at 50 intersections to implement a closed-loop system. The new signal controllers, new signal poles and mast arms, new LED signal heads, pedestrian signals, preemption, lighting, design-build ADA ramps, design-build Hanover Street bridge sidewalk modifications/lighting/roadway, and other miscellaneous construction. Controller modifications are included at 15 intersections in Limerick Township as part of the overall signal system.

SP Engineering will provide construction inspection services for the Markley Street Improvement Projects, which involves: new traffic signals, bridge replacement, and reconstruction of the existing four-lane cross-section, which will involve the replacement of the existing Bailey Bridge carrying the northbound lanes over Stony Creek and rehabilitation of the box beam structure carrying the southbound lanes over Stony Creek.

District-Wide Construction Inspection Services (Predominately Montgomery County)

SP Engineering successfully provided construction inspection and documentation services for the $10.8 million I-76 Improvement Project in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, PA. The project involved constructing a new on-ramp, the relocation of an on-ramp, the widening of I-76 WB, S. Gulph Road and Henderson Road, and a new intersection with advanced ITS components.

SR 2038, Section WDI - Construction Inspection

SP Engineering provided construction inspection and documentation services for the $13 million widenings of County Line Road (SR 2038) to four lanes between Upper State Road and U.S. 202, between Bucks and Montgomery Counties. This project includes highway work with new and upgrading existing traffic signals.

Additional work includes the construction of a new pedestrian access structure at the northwest corner of 22nd Street and JFK Boulevard; full-depth pavement reconstruction; construction of new sidewalk, highway lighting, drainage, and landscaping, the new traffic signal at 20th Street and JFK Boulevard; new pavement markings and signing; and other miscellaneous construction.

SP Engineering provides construction management services for the $7 million Allegheny Avenue project in the City of Philadelphia, which involves design-build ADA ramps at many intersections from Ridge Avenue to Aramingo Avenue. Work includes the modernization of the traffic signal equipment, installation of ADA-compliant pedestrian facilities, installation of street lighting under overpasses, and roadway improvements, including installing curbing, pavement, sidewalk, drainage, and green stormwater facilities.

SP Engineering provided construction management services for the Erie Avenue project in the City of Philadelphia, which involves design-build ADA ramps at many intersections from Broad Street to K Street. Open-End Construction Management Services

SP Engineering will provide as-needed construction management services under the Department's direction for various projects throughout the District. Contractual obligations involved providing project management, scheduling, technical assistance, and engineering functions. Some duties involve assistance with PennDOT's Electronic Construction Management System (ECMS), construction documentation, facilitating progress meetings, and C.P.M. schedule review and analysis. Additional duties involved providing project delivery of projects to final status and various other assignments as directed by the Department.
